The announcer boomed: “FIGHT!”
Viktor pressed forward punch. Kratos lunged—and the game froze. For three seconds. Then the audio returned, but it wasn't the MK9 announcer. It was a low, guttural voice, layered and wet:
Kratos turned. Slowly. Faced the screen. His head tilted.
C:\> The Spartan is not a guest. He is a warning.
Something warm and wet dripped onto his hand.
He launched Mortal Kombat 9 . The menu loaded—normal. He selected Arcade, hovered over Rain’s portrait. The icon glitched: a pixelated blur of green and red, then reformed.
The fight loaded. The arena was the Rooftop Day… but the sky was wrong. Not sunset—a bruised, churning red. His opponent? A random Scorpion. Normal.
